6.5 out of10 (an okay riff)

The samples aren't the greatest and the volume seems to be a bit overwhelming on certain instruments (like the percussion). However, it very much reminds me of Octopus Project.

I'm rating the fact that this really isn't a song or a loop, but just a good riff. It gets a bit repetitive toward the end, so figure out a new progression to extend the song beyond just a good riff.

The best part about this song is nice layering from 0:01 to 0:20 or so. After that it kinda trots downhill with repetition and just doesn't go anywhere.

Yo. Thanks for review that clearly states what you think would make the song better and what I should do next time (actual constructive criticism is hard to come by) Thanks.

Hm!

I noticed you have a recurring accidental note during the first part of the 4/4 string lead. You hear it right at the 2.5 second mark, and it repeats all throughout. It's pretty distracting.

If you fixed that accidental note and push this piece to a full 3 or 4 minutes, you'd probably have a great piece on your hands. I think what you have is excellent (minus the nagging note) - a nice blend of electronic leads w/ symphonic chord progressions.

9,5 out of 10

The only part I think sounded a tad strange was the string section. It's not your fault, just the fact that the sample sounded pretty synthetic.

Perfect loop for a game, though. I loved it. Keep up the good work.

A demo? Well, it's a perfect sample.

I can't note a single problem with this. I'm judging this based on the 26 seconds given. I'd be curious to hear the complete song. I loved the backing triplet strings during the onset. Excellent chords and great progression.

Hope you intend to complete it.

7.5 out of 10

It's pretty simplistic and the samples you're using aren't entirely awe-inspiring (such as the piano), but you can tell there is talent behind this composition.

Its most noticeable strength, I would say, is that it offers a fun variety of different riffs to keep the piece interesting for the entire three minutes. Good work, you definitely have a solid musical foundation - so keep building it up.

Radidsh responds:

Thank you so much for the constructive critism and also for the kind words. Yup, I know that my projects lack in that area. I have no idea how to mix things, I just use a set of instruments that came with Fruity Loops (which is probaby why all my songs sound so similar too, the very same and dull instruments), but I wish to learn more about making my own instruments and have that extra ingredient o' fancy and touch my future projects more up. =)

Thanks!

Not Bad

The vocals sometimes seem a little whack melodically - like where you do the light choral singing. The screams are actually pretty cool, I like the effects you put on the voice. The audio quality for the entire piece could've been a lot better, though.

I'm into melodic death metal. So, to hear the audio quality of the drums sound drowned out kinda turned me off. I couldn't even make out the bass kicks.

I liked the melodic rhythm section at 1:53-2:08. I felt that stood out as one of the best sections. The soloing was... hmmm... just didn't seem to do it for me.

mydarksides responds:

honestly the sound levels for both vocals and drums and kind of fading in and out due to reasons we couldn't understand :(

and yeah you hit the spot!, we all thought that was the best melodic part too :P
thanks for the review! :)

Peaceful

Great tone setter for a video game. Nice job. Can't hear anything that doesn't make this piece unworthy of a 10.

Thanks for listening!

Very Nice Job

The atmosphere is great. It reminds me of a mech battle of some kind. I could totally see this working excellent in an ATB scenario.

eatmeatleet responds:

thanks, I didn't notice your review. It's nice that people keep noticing it

Hey flower, not bad by any means. While simple in style it cries out a nice mood for a subtle atmosphere in a game. Granted, its a MIDI, but all in all I like it. I only docked a point for the volumes, at times the winds seemed a little loud compared to the rest... plus the percussion wasn't really that exciting.

Good job, though, man.

This is pretty good

What kind of plug-in are you using to get the sounds out of this orchestra? Very nice - especially the subtle percussion. I'm curious as to what you use to get that percussive sound, since I'm lacking a good selection myself...
